Apprentice makes the grade at Jaybee Motors

An apprentice at Banbury Renault dealer, Jaybee Motors, has become a Renault Technician after completing a three-year Advanced Apprenticeship Programme.

Andrew Prichard, aged 20, from Banbury, qualified as a Renault Technician after completing his training course in 2006.

During his three years with Jaybee Motors, the former Drayton School pupil combined practical workshop experience with eight weeks of intensive training each year at one of Renault's five UK dedicated training centres.

Andrew said: "Completing the apprenticeship and becoming a Renault Technician is a great qualification to have achieved."

As graduates of the programme, apprentices qualify as Renault Technicians, and receive the Modern Apprenticeship Certificate awarded by the Motor Industry Training Council, which is endorsed by Renault and City & Guilds. In addition, apprentices who graduate through the Renault programme attain a level three NVQ.

Andrew's boss, Service Manager Colin Corne, said: "Completing the apprenticeship is a tremendous achievement. The job requires skills in several disciplines — hydraulics, electronics and mechanics.

"After their apprenticeship the newly-qualified Technicians return to the workshop with exactly the right skills and knowledge to work on Renault cars and vans, meaning we can offer our customers the reassurance that their vehicles are in the hands of skilled professionals."
