A distinctive, dynamic, meticulous design
With its distinctive lighting signature and balanced proportions, New Mégane is first and foremost a Renault. It adopts the brand's design DNA with broad, sculpted shoulders and a front face incorporating the brand's new design identity, including a large, vertical Renault diamond. As a relative of Renault Talisman, New Mégane boasts a specific lighting signature at the front with, C-shaped headlamps whose surround continues into the bumper. At the rear, the new lighting signature, visible by both day and night, goes right across the car to increase the perceived width of the vehicle. "On the highly competitive market of compact saloons, it was vital that New Mégane should stand out right from the first glance", says exterior designer Franck Le Gall.
At 25mm lower in front with track 47mm wider in front and 39mm wider at the rear compared to the third generation Mégane, New Mégane sits squarely on the road. Its proportions are those of a sporty silhouette with a wheelbase 28mm longer and a shorter overhang. Franck goes on: "The precise, taut lines, which draw the whole design towards the front, are part of the side surfaces." In combination with the sculpted shoulders, these lines give New Mégane dynamism and character."
Chromed elements emphasise the top of the belt line and enhance the grille, the side badges and door handles. The slim creases on the bonnet, combined with the chrome beading and side air scoops, strengthen the character of the front face.
An exclusive GT version, available from launch
New Mégane GT has a front bumper redesigned to express a more sporty personality. It incorporates a broader air intake and the new grill has a honeycomb design.
At the rear, the design of New Mégane GT is underscored by two chromed tailpipes that echo the air scoops further to the front and frame a spoiler inspired by the world of F1. New Mégane GT has "Renaultsport" badging at the rear, on the wings and at the front.
This sports version will be available with new "Iron Blue" paintwork, combined with "Dark Metal" touches at the front and on the body-coloured door mirrors to emphasise its affinity with the world of GT motoring.
New Mégane GT also has 18-inch aluminium wheels developed especially for the model by Renaultsport.
In Frankfurt, New Mégane will be fully revealed…
Don't miss the Frankfurt Motor Show to find out all about New Mégane, its interior design, the technologies that have been taken from the segment above, as well as the range of engines available.
Exactly eight years and more than 1.5 million units since it was launched (on the 50th anniversary of the original car's launch) the successful and iconic FIAT 500 makes way for its successor: the New FIAT 500. Retaining the unmistakable look that has made it a global best-seller, the new FIAT 500 hasn't grown in size (L 3.57m / W 1.63m / H 1.49m / WB 2.30m) but instead has grown in maturity with advanced technologies, improved efficiency, even more customisation ideas and a Centro Stile FIAT-refreshed exterior and interior.
No fewer than 1,800 changes have been made to produce the New 500, all designed to enhance the ownership experience and refine its inimitable style. The most changes can be found at the front: New FIAT 500 retains the "face" of its predecessors with headlights which are still circular in shape but which adopt innovative polyellptical modules for improved night vision and extra safety. These clusters integrate the dipped-beam headlamps and turn signals, while lower light cluster integrates the main beam headlights and LED daytime running lights, which adopt the circular profile of the lamp to graphically reproduces the zeros of 500. The bonnet retains its distinctive, traditional clamshell form, another nod to its legendary predecessor, while the trapezoidal nose gets more pronounced ribbing and the auxiliary air vent is now fed via a three-dimensional grille (with chrome-effect buttons on the Lounge version) flanked by chrome brightwork to give the New FIAT 500 stronger visual presence.
The New FIAT 500 and British singer-songwriter Ella Eyre are set to re-master one of the world's great pop tracks live in London on 2 September 2015. Specially-invited guests and members of the media will see the New FIAT 500 on stage with Ella Eyre as they perform a specially re-mastered version of the No. 1 track "Best of My Love" by The Emotions, bringing the UK launch of the New FIAT 500 to a spectacular conclusion. Details of how the New FIAT 500 will make its contribution to the track, and where the landmark London location for this special event will take place, are both still under wraps, however.
First launched in 2007 on the 50th anniversary of the original car's launch, and with more than 1.5 million units sold worldwide the successful and iconic FIAT 500 must now make way for its successor: the New FIAT 500 retains the unmistakable look and charm of its predecessor but with no fewer than 1,800 modifications for 2015 it, too, has been re-mastered for a new generation, with advanced technologies, refreshed interior and exterior style, better economy and efficiency and even more customisation options.
Commenting on the collaboration with the New FIAT 500, Ella Eyre said: "It's great to be working with FIAT, I loved working on the track - which I am really pleased with - and I'm looking forward to debuting it live in such a unique way."
Sebastiano Fedrigo, Head of Brand for FIAT UK said, "You don't replace an icon - you embrace it and evolve it and that's what we've done with the New FIAT 500. It has been truly re-mastered and reloaded and we wanted to mark the launch with a spectacular and memorable event and what better way than to use the car to re-master an iconic track with a sensational up-and-coming artist like Ella Eyre? We are very excited to be working with such a talented performer and to see the New FIAT 500 and Ella Eyre perform together on 2 September."
Ella Eyre's debut album ‘Feline' is available now and more details of the track can be found at www.ellaeyre.com
•EU6 engines improve economy and emissions across Dacia range
•CO2 emissions cut by as much as 30g/km
•Road Fund Licence costs fall by up to £170 per year
•Engine Stop and Start system fitted as standard
•All-new 1.6 16V 115 engine added to Duster line-up
•New engine has increased power & improved economy
•Petrol-powered Ambiance models added with new engine
The Dacia Duster is now even more ‘shockingly affordable’ to run with the introduction of a brand new EU6-compliant 1.6 16V 115 petrol engine which improves performance, reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, significantly reduces running costs and improves the towing capacity of 4x2 models. It replaces the previous 1.6 16V 105 engine.
With its arrival, Dacia now offers a greater number of petrol-engined models in the Duster line-up. Mid-range Ambiance 4x2 and 4x4 versions have been added, giving a more progressive and logical product line. Previously, only entry-level Access models were offered with a petrol engine. The new Ambiance versions are priced at £10,495 (4x2) and £12,495 (4x4). The new petrol engine is also fitted to Access versions, which are priced at £9,495 (4x2) and £11,495 (4x4)
There are also reductions in fuel consumption and emissions for Duster models powered by the dCi 110 turbodiesel engine, which now meets EU6 emissions standards. As with the new petrol engine, this has the effect of lowering the VED band of every model.
There are also improvements to the fuel economy and emissions of most models in the Sandero family and the Logan MCV with the adoption of EU6 engines.
